All model Commodores came out with a complete instrument package, weather it be as an option, or standard as in SL/E or Calais.
VB to VH tachometers will fit into a standard dash with a few alterations to the circuit board, and to the vehicles wiring. These alterations are done as per genuine.
VK Commodores can also be updated to tacho styles, with similar procedures as used in VB-VH.
VL Commodore sports instrumentation can be fitted to standard models, if changes to the harness plug wiring and engine sensor changes are done.
VN onwards Commodores can have tachometers fitted to their existing gauge cluster, with a few changes, but otherwise plug straight in. Patch looms are available to install the Calais style VN onwards dashes into non-Calais vehicle. This loom will need to be connected to certain wiring points in the dash wiring to activate the LCD display.
Dash cluster circuit boards between VN and VS are different. Make sure to only use the appropriate dash for the vehicle in question. For example, under no circumstances should a VS dash be plugged into a VN, as severe electrical damage will occur!
