When we first started work on this car, it was difficult to tell it was an original SS. Someone had painted it poxy white, and by the look of it, they did it in a barn. With no interior, motor or gearbox, it mad life difficult. Eventually, an original style trim was found, and after a lot of paintwork, the trim was fitted.
A 5.0 ltr Black engine was dismantled, and some genuine B cast Brock heads where used in the rebuild. Trying to stay close to as was from HDT, we picked a mild 276 Crane cam, along with some other goodies, like genuine inlet manifold and blueprinted carb, original air cleaner and intake along with genuine extractors.
Luckily, the diff was original, 3.08 LSD. A reconditioned M21 4 speed was installed along with the rest of the driveline. The shockers still original Bilstein items, and the suspension received new bushes. The 15-inch directional aero's where finally located and used, along with some body kit parts that where needed.
The car was successfully re-plated as a VK SS by a HDT authorized workshop.
