VL Calais V8 EFI

Raymond, the owner of this 1988 VL Calais, wanted something a bit different, and ended up opting for a VP 185 Kw engine and TH700 auto trans. A difficult area in this conversion was the transmission tunnel. TH 700's are a lot larger than the old Trimatic, so the tunnel needed some modifications to allow for the size increase. The majority of the conversion was relatively straightforward. Being an original V8 to begin with, the EFI bolted straight to the existing cross member. The transmission cross member needed to be fabricated to allow for the lower TH700 mount. The exhaust system was hassle free, as all parts bolted together with the VL system.A speedo interface was required to convert signal pulses from the speedo Hall effect sensor on the trans, into the required signal pulses for the engine computer.
