VY Commodore Suspension Issues

Power Steering Shudder (V6) - Some VY's may shudder through the steering wheel during very low speed or
stationary steering is performed. To help overcome this, a longer high pressure power steering line was introduced. The original line ran directly from the power steering rack to the power steering pump. The new longer line runs from the power steering rack, is routed and secured in front of the engine, and then continues back to the power steering pump.

High Pressure Power Steering Hose - Part number 92174786

Power Steering Reservoir (V6) - Some VY Power Steering Reservoirs may be loose, as the retaining clip on the radiator fan shroud assembly may not be properly engaged.

Steering Rack Boots (Gen III) - Some VY steering rack boots may be damaged by excessive heat from the exhaust system. VY's with extractors are more susceptible to heat damage. Revised silicone steering rack boots were released and are more durable.

Rear Suspension Knock Gen III Manual - V8 manual VY's may experience a loud knock from the rear of the car during hard acceleration from a standing start. In some cases (11/02 to 02/03), the rear crossmember insulators may be missing, allowing the crossmember to knock against the rear floor area. In this case, insulators should be installed.

Rear Crossmember Bolt - part number 92038482 

Front Sway bar links - VY front sway bar links are rubber mounted to the strut housing. These rubbers are a common failure, as they can over squash and split. New rubbers were introduced early 2003, made of revised rubber with increased hardness, reduced compression set and improved high temperature performance.
